Captained by Bernhard Rogge, this disguised auxiliary cruiser prowls the South Seas, successfully sinking or capturing 22 merchant vessels between May 1940 and November 1941. The narrative captures Rogge’s strategic brilliance and ethical leadership, which ultimately spared him from post-war arrest, unlike many of his peers. After the conflict, he rose to the rank of Rear Admiral in the West German Navy and became a prominent NATO commander, showcasing a complex figure amidst the war's chaos.
