A Fleet Air Arm pilot faces the consequences of a tragic accident that leads to a colleague's death, resulting in his dismissal. As World War II breaks out, he finds himself working for a modest Greek airline. When the Germans invade, an opportunity arises for him to seek redemption by reuniting with his former unit on a British aircraft carrier. Often viewed as a relic of the more rigid Ealing war films of the 1930s, this story paves the way for a shift toward greater realism and narrative depth in the genre.
