Set during the tumultuous summer of 1916, The Trench explores the lives of young British soldiers just before the catastrophic Battle of the Somme. As they await their grim fate, the film captures the complex emotions of the troops, oscillating between monotony and terror. Confined within the claustrophobic confines of a trench, they grapple with fear, anxiety, and the surreal nature of their surroundings, all while bracing for what would become one of the darkest chapters in British military history.
