Žanis Lipke, an unassuming Latvian laborer, emerges as an unlikely hero during wartime turmoil. Struggling to provide for his family, he toils in German military aviation warehouses by day and engages in nighttime smuggling to make ends meet. The narrative explores the motivations behind his unexpected acts of bravery—whether driven by a thirst for adventure, sheer determination, or a deep-rooted sense of duty to those in peril. As his story unfolds, Lipke's transformation from an ordinary worker to a symbol of courage challenges perceptions of heroism in desperate times.
