Set against the stunning backdrop of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, "The Last Alaskans" chronicles the lives of a few families who inhabit this remote and protected area. Established in 1980, the U.S. government prohibited new human settlement here, preserving the untouched landscape teeming with wildlife. These families live in seven permitted cabins, facing the reality that their permits will eventually expire within a century, signaling the end of human presence in this breathtaking wilderness. The show beautifully captures their struggles and deep connection to the land, highlighting the inevitable clash between nature and human existence.
