Set against the backdrop of 1940 Marseilles, a group of determined Americans spearheads a daring rescue mission aimed at saving artists, writers, and other refugees escaping the horrors of WWII. Transatlantic, a historical drama miniseries crafted by Anna Winger and Daniel Hendler, draws inspiration from Julie Orringer’s 2019 novel, The Flight Portfolio. The narrative delves into the historic Emergency Rescue Committee that operated in Marseilles, Spain, and Portugal after France's fall, showcasing interactions with notable cultural figures of the era. The series premiered on Netflix on April 7, 2023, following its closing presentation at the Series Mania festival.
