Talking Language with Ernie Dingo

Ernie Dingo explores the vital role of languages in Indigenous Australian culture in Talking Language. With approximately 250 Aboriginal languages and 600 dialects present across the continent, the series highlights a troubling reality: only around thirty languages are actively spoken daily, while more than one hundred face the threat of extinction. Dingo’s journey emphasizes the cultural significance of these languages, aiming to raise awareness and appreciation for the rich linguistic diversity that is at risk.
