2 Seasons
Set against the backdrop of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, The Games is an Australian mockumentary that cleverly satirizes the Olympic movement's corruption and cronyism. Airing on ABC, the series ran for two seasons with a total of 26 episodes, debuting in 1998 and concluding in 2000. Featuring notable performances by John Clarke, Bryan Dawe, Gina Riley, and Nicholas Bell, the show employed a unique format where characters shared names with the actors, reinforcing its documentary style. Written by Clarke and Ross Stevenson, it offers a humorous yet critical look at bureaucratic failures and ethical lapses in politics and media.
