Mail Call was a television series that aired on the History Channel, hosted by retired Marine Corps Staff Sergeant R. Lee Ermey. It premiered on August 4, 2002, as part of the 'Fighting Fridays' lineup. While most episodes ran for 30 minutes, from 2007 until its conclusion in 2009, some stretched to an hour.
In each episode, Ermey addressed viewer questions about military weapons and gear from various branches of the U.S. armed forces, as well as historical military equipment. He frequently took viewers on-site to military training grounds for demonstrations. When not on location, he filmed from a set designed like a military outpost, complete with a tent and Jeep, often featuring a bulldog as a nod to Marine culture.
Ermey provided comic relief by playfully berating viewers in a drill instructor style, testing weapons on watermelons and paint cans, and featuring "Mini-Lee," a toy version of himself that humorously sc
