Henry Hobson, a domineering widower, runs a thriving boot-making business in Victorian Salford while indulging in local pub life. Reluctant to part with money for his daughters' marriages, he enforces a strict rule against them marrying, seeing it as a financial burden. However, his eldest daughter, Maggie, is determined to challenge his authority. Resourceful and headstrong, she devises a plan to assert her independence and find love while navigating her father's oppressive reign. As tensions rise, Maggie's rebellion may change the dynamics of their family forever.
