Jos

A once-forgotten photographer, Jos Divis, is finally gaining the recognition he deserves in New Zealand's photography history. Often referred to as the 'inventor of the selfie,' Divis was a street photographer who captured the essence of everyday life with innovative techniques. His life took a tragic turn when he was imprisoned for his beliefs, ultimately spending his final years alone in the ghost town he had revitalized, while his family mourned him as lost. JOS chronicles the quest of a historian, a photographer, and a museum curator to uncover and celebrate Divis’s remarkable legacy.
