The Chalk Garden

Laurel, a troubled young girl, creates chaos in her grandmother's grand home overlooking the English south coast in The Chalk Garden. Edith Evans delivers a captivating performance as the matriarch, who has focused so much on raising her granddaughter that she has let her once-vibrant chalk garden wither. As Laurel’s erratic behavior drives away multiple governesses, an enigmatic new tutor arrives, armed with mysterious references. She deftly navigates the complexities of Laurel's emotions while also nurturing the neglected garden back to life, leading to unexpected transformations for both the girl and her surroundings.
