At just 12 years old, Maya faced a life-altering diagnosis of alopecia areata, resulting in her complete baldness within weeks. While she eventually adapts to her new appearance, summer brings fresh challenges, making her feel exposed without the comfort of a wig or hat. Grappling with questions about beauty and self-worth, Maya turns to selfies, mirroring her friends’ social media habits.
