In "Proof" (2005), Catherine, a dedicated woman in her late twenties, grapples with the declining mental state of her father, Robert, a celebrated mathematician. As Robert's grasp on reality fades, Catherine becomes increasingly concerned about the possibility of inheriting his struggles with mental illness, alongside his remarkable mathematical talent. This tension between her loyalty to her father and her own fears of insanity drives her to seek clarity about her identity and legacy in the shadow of her father's genius.
