Stanislav Petrov, a former lieutenant colonel in the Soviet Air Defence Forces, becomes an unlikely hero in this gripping documentary. Faced with what appeared to be an imminent nuclear attack in 1983, Petrov made a split-second decision that could have altered the course of history. Instead of retaliating, he chose to trust his instincts and investigate further, ultimately preventing a catastrophic escalation. Through interviews and archival footage, the film explores themes of duty, morality, and the heavy burden of responsibility, spotlighting a man whose courage saved countless lives during a tense period of the Cold War.
