Grave digging, grotesque torture, and demonic rituals weave through Benjamin Christensen's iconic 1922 film, which examines the notion that medieval witches experienced psychological conditions akin to those of early 20th-century patients. Presented through a collection of striking vignettes, the narrative blends elements of horror with dark humor, creating a captivating tapestry of the bizarre. Rather than a solemn treatise, the film invites viewers into a chilling yet entertaining exploration of witchcraft, showcasing a unique perspective on the intersection of superstition and mental health.
