Relocating to Pasadena, Texas, Bud Davis, a young country man, finds himself drawn to Gilley's, a lively bar where he meets Sissy, an independent cowgirl with a progressive mindset. Their whirlwind romance culminates in marriage, yet traditional gender expectations strain their bond. As jealousy flares over Bud's competitor, their relationship falters, leading to a painful separation. Determined to reclaim Sissy's heart, Bud enters Gilley’s famed mechanical bull-riding contest, hoping to prove his worth and win her back amidst the chaos of love and ambition.
