At just 11 years old, Boy idolizes Michael Jackson and navigates life on New Zealand's east coast in 1984. His world shifts when his estranged father reappears, seeking a stash of cash he buried long ago. Eager for connection, Boy grapples with his father's troubled past while yearning for a bond that feels almost mythical. As they embark on a journey filled with humor and heartache, Boy discovers the complexities of family dynamics and the realities of his father's choices, all while trying to hold on to his dreams and youthful innocence.
