Ecumenopolis: City Without Limits

"Ecumenopolis: City Without Limits" explores the transformation of Istanbul and other mega-cities under neoliberal pressures. Centered around a migrant family's plight following the demolition of their home, the film highlights their ongoing battle for housing rights. It presents a sweeping view of the city, capturing the stark contrasts between soaring skyscrapers and the depths of the Bosphorus railway tunnel. From historic neighborhoods to northern forests, and the disparity between impoverished areas and wealthy enclaves, it paints a vivid portrait of a rapidly expanding Istanbul, projected to grow from 15 million to 30 million residents, and offers a glimpse into its uncharted future.
