David, a high-powered trader in London, appears self-assured but is haunted by a traumatic past. His relentless dedication to work masks deep-seated pain stemming from a troubled childhood in South Africa, where he endured abuse from his oppressive father, Donald, and a passive mother, Joanne. Struggling to confront these memories, David pushes away those who try to support him, jeopardizing his chances for a fulfilling life. As flashbacks unveil the extent of his suffering, the barriers he has built around himself threaten to keep happiness perpetually out of reach.
