George and Marion Kerby, a lively couple, meet an untimely demise in a car crash. Unfazed, they return as playful ghosts, determined to inject excitement into the dull existence of their friend, Cosmo Topper, a proper bank president. As Topper embraces their spirited antics, he finds himself at odds with his uptight wife, creating a comedic tug-of-war between his newfound zest for life and the expectations of his marriage. The film blends humor and supernatural charm as the Kerbys work to shake things up in Topper's staid world.
