Upon discovering that a local boy their age has been tragically killed, four friends from rural Oregon—Gordie, Vern, Chris, and Teddy—embark on a journey to find his body. As they trek through the wilderness, they face challenges like a hostile junkyard owner and a swamp teeming with leeches. Along the way, the boys share stories about their contrasting family situations, deepening their bonds. What starts as a simple quest transforms into a pivotal experience that shapes their understanding of friendship and life itself.
