Martin, a former Parisian hipster with a love for Gustave Flaubert, has traded city life for a quaint village in Normandy, where he runs a bakery. His peaceful existence is disrupted when an English couple, Gemma and Charles Bovery, moves into a nearby farm. Their names are strikingly familiar, but it's their actions and lifestyle that mirror Flaubert's literary characters, drawing Martin into a captivating and unsettling narrative that blurs the lines between reality and fiction. As he becomes increasingly involved, the consequences of their choices unfold in unexpected ways.
