The 1922 German version of Othello exudes an operatic flair, even in the absence of sound, largely thanks to Emil Jannings' larger-than-life performance. Werner Krauss, known for his role in Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, brings a cunning edge to the character of Iago, while Lea Von Lenkeffy, also recognized as Lya de Putti, portrays the tragic Desdemona. With grand production values, this adaptation strays from Shakespeare's original text but captivates viewers with its stunning visual storytelling, making it a feast for the eyes.
