A determined newspaper publisher aims to highlight the flaws of circumstantial evidence by orchestrating a risky scheme with his prospective son-in-law, Tom. The plan involves Tom planting misleading clues that suggest his involvement in the murder of a nightclub dancer, leading to his arrest. The ultimate goal is to expose the incompetence of the city's tough district attorney. Once convicted, Tom is expected to unveil the hoax, bringing shame to the DA. As the plot unfolds, the stakes rise, and the consequences become increasingly dire for all involved.
