Recorder: The Marion Stokes Project

Marion Stokes dedicated three decades of her life to recording television around the clock, amassing an astonishing collection from 1975 until her passing in 2012. For her, this relentless documentation was a quest for truth, reflecting her belief in the importance of preserving media history for future generations. While her ambitious project strained family ties, it has now led to the digitization of her 70,000 VHS tapes, making this unique archive accessible and searchable online. Stokes' legacy invites reflection on the power of media and the complexities of activism.
