Lizzie, known as Njideka in her Igbo culture, is an aspiring dancer who captivates Nicholas during a performance at King Igwe's celebration. His fascination leads to a marriage proposal that her mother insists she accept. As Lizzie navigates the traumatic aftermath of sexual assault, her life becomes a poignant reflection on the devastating impact of forced marriages on women globally. A Dance to Forget powerfully highlights these issues, earning acclaim for its sensitive portrayal of a young woman's struggle against societal constraints and personal turmoil.
