Parker Ballantine, a prominent theater critic in New York, finds himself in a precarious situation when his wife pens a potentially subpar play. As opening night approaches, he faces a dilemma: either abstain from critiquing the production or risk straining their marriage. The tension escalates as Parker navigates the fine line between professional integrity and personal loyalty, leading to humorous and poignant moments that explore the complexities of love and ambition in the competitive world of theater.
