In a quaint California town during the summer of 1942, 14-year-old Homer Macauley strives to become the fastest bicycle telegraph messenger. With his older brother at war, Homer takes on the responsibility of caring for his widowed mother, older sister, and young brother, Ulysses. As he delivers messages filled with love, hope, and sorrow to the residents of Ithaca, he confronts a life-altering message that pushes him toward adulthood. Based on William Saroyan's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Human Comedy, Ithaca beautifully explores the trials of youth, the essence of life, and the impact of loss.
