In the inaugural installment of a film series by Musée d'Orsay, "Flight of the Red Balloon" unfolds the tale of a French family through the perspective of a visiting Chinese student. Filmed in August and September 2006 against the backdrop of Paris, this marks Hou Hsiao-Hsien's debut in Western cinema. The narrative draws inspiration from the timeless French short film "The Red Balloon," originally directed by Albert Lamorisse, blending nostalgia with a contemporary lens.
