In 1946, my great-grandfather committed the murder of a black man named Bill Spann and evaded justice. This chilling revelation sets the stage for Travis Wilkerson's acclaimed documentary, DID YOU WONDER WHO FIRED THE GUN? As the narrator, Wilkerson leads viewers through the American South, unraveling the disturbing truth behind this crime and the societal norms that permitted it. Blending elements from TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, the music of Janelle Monáe and Phil Ochs, and Rosa Parks’ exploration of the Recy Taylor case, he weaves a profound narrative that reflects on our shared history and its lingering impact today.
