Offering a rare glimpse into the UN Department of Peacekeeping, The Peacekeepers captures the intense efforts to prevent a catastrophe reminiscent of Rwanda, this time in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The narrative shifts between the bustling UN headquarters in New York and the chaotic situation on the ground in the DRC. Viewers witness peacekeepers strategizing in the "Crisis Room," weighing the risks of potential loss against the financial demands from hesitant donor nations. As violence erupts in northeast Congo, the stakes rise, influenced by echoes of past failures and current global crises, including Iraq and terrorism.
