Alan Turing, a brilliant British mathematician, played a crucial role in deciphering the German naval Enigma Code during World War II, potentially saving millions. Despite his monumental contributions, Turing faced societal rejection and criminal charges for his homosexuality, which was illegal at the time. In 1952, he was convicted of 'gross indecency' and subjected to chemical castration. Tragically, two years later, he took his own life at the age of 41. Turing's story highlights the profound injustice faced by a man who was both a war hero and a victim of his era's prejudices.
