Amidst the post-Great War bourgeoisie of Europe, Harry Haller grapples with his inner conflict between humanity and animal instinct. Facing his impending death on his 50th birthday, he encounters the enigmatic Hermine, who pulls him from his isolation. Through lively dances and the allure of jazz, she introduces him to the enchanting Maria. Together, they navigate the surreal experiences of the Magic Theater, where Harry confronts his darkest fears. The journey raises profound questions about whether humor, transgression, and irony can ultimately redeem a troubled soul.
