Lessons of Darkness

After the Gulf War, Kuwait became a haunting vision of devastation, with oil fires consuming the landscape. In the final days before these infernos were quelled, Werner Herzog captured the stark beauty of this apocalyptic scene. His lens reveals the ominous skies, charred terrain, and unpredictable blazes that transformed the region into a surreal tableau of destruction. Through haunting imagery, Herzog invites viewers to confront the ecological and human costs of war, creating a powerful meditation on the remnants of conflict and the resilience of nature amidst chaos.
