In the struggling village of Saint-Élie-de-Caxton, Ésimésac inspires the community to unite and create a garden, aiming to boost their meager food supply. The promise of a new railway line ignites hope for prosperity, as Riopel, a robust blacksmith, shifts focus to the railway project. He persuades the townsfolk to invest their efforts in his venture instead of tending to the garden. As Ésimésac’s vision falters under the allure of progress, he faces a daunting challenge: can he champion sustainability against the relentless march of development?
