Lacey Schwartz navigated her childhood in an affluent Jewish family in Woodstock, NY, where her dark skin often raised eyebrows. Convinced her appearance stemmed from her Sicilian grandfather, she lived comfortably in her identity until her parents' sudden divorce sparked doubts. At 18, she bravely confronted her mother, only to uncover a shocking secret: her biological father was not her presumed dad, but a black man named Rodney, with whom her mother had an affair. This revelation forced Lacey to reevaluate her identity and the complexities of her family's history.
