Pablo Escobar reigned as the world's wealthiest and most formidable drug lord, leading the Medellin Cartel with ruthless authority. Meanwhile, Andres Escobar emerged as Colombia's top soccer sensation. Although they were not related, their destinies were tragically intertwined. Pablo's drug wealth had transformed Andres' national squad into South American champions, positioning them as favorites for the 1994 World Cup in Los Angeles. However, in a match against the U.S., Andres made a devastating error by scoring an "own goal," which led to his team's elimination and ultimately cost him his life. The Two Escobars delves into the complex relationship between sports, crime, and politics.
