In *A Modern Affair*, an independent film directed by Vern Oakley, the romantic comedy formula is turned on its head. Grace Rhodes, a successful but lonely executive played by Lisa Eichhorn, feels her biological clock ticking louder than ever. She decides to get pregnant on her own. Only after she’s expecting does she meet the father, a charming stranger portrayed by Stanley Tucci. Love blooms not before the baby, but after—reversing the classic order of romance, marriage, and family.
