Blending reality with imagination, Zoot Suit brings to life Luis Valdez's celebrated play, centered on the true events of the Sleepy Lagoon murder and the ensuing zoot suit riots in 1940s Los Angeles. Henry Reyna, a young Mexican-American, finds himself unjustly imprisoned in San Quentin, accused of a murder he didn't commit. As his fate hangs in the balance, defense committee members Alice Bloomfield and George Shearer passionately advocate for Henry and his friends, challenging the systemic injustices they face. The film powerfully explores themes of identity, racism, and the fight for justice.
