Au revoir les enfants unfolds a poignant narrative of friendship and tragic loss set against the backdrop of Nazi-occupied France. At a rural Catholic boarding school, two bright boys share a deep bond until a hidden truth comes to light. Drawing inspiration from the childhood experiences of writer-director Malle, the film is a delicately crafted exploration of bravery, betrayal, and the harsh realities of growing up amidst conflict.
