In 1964, a snowstorm complicates the birth of Dr. David Henry's son, Paul, assisted by nurse Caroline. When David discovers that his wife, Norah, is giving birth to a daughter with Down syndrome, he makes a life-altering choice: he entrusts the baby girl to Caroline, concealing this from Norah. This pivotal moment sets off a chain of events that profoundly impacts their lives and relationships over the next two decades, exploring themes of love, secrecy, and the far-reaching effects of a single decision.
