Inspired by true events, this poignant drama centers on a band of Allied troops in Burma who find themselves prisoners of war under Japanese control. Among them are Capt. Ernest Gordon, Lt. Jim Reardon, and Maj. Ian Campbell, who endure relentless beatings and scarce rations. While Campbell advocates for a daring escape, Gordon adopts a more composed mindset, which unexpectedly strikes a chord with his fellow captives. Their contrasting philosophies highlight the resilience of the human spirit amidst the horrors of war.
