Gilles Carle’s documentary turns the world of chess into a Western-style showdown. The film centers on three towering figures: Anatoly Karpov of Russia, Viktor Korchnoi, a Soviet defector, and America’s Bobby Fischer. Chess enthusiasts Camille Coudari and Fernando Arrabal dissect the players’ personalities and tactics, while also reflecting on how politics and the game intertwine.
