On June 3, 1973, a murder at a bustling Chinatown intersection in San Francisco escalated an ongoing gang conflict. Chol Soo Lee, a 20-year-old Korean immigrant with a troubled past, was wrongfully convicted of the crime based on unreliable evidence and misidentifications by white tourists. Sentenced to life imprisonment, Lee faced immense challenges while incarcerated. His plight caught the attention of journalist K.W. Lee, whose determined investigation sparked a groundbreaking pan-Asian American movement advocating for justice. This campaign not only aimed to secure Chol Soo Lee's release but also inspired future generations of social justice advocates.
