Eugene, a teenage Jewish boy in 1930s Brooklyn, shares his nostalgic memoirs filled with the tumult of adolescence. Residing in a cramped home with his family—his parents, aunt, two lively cousins, and his older brother Stanley, whom he idolizes—he navigates the awkwardness of puberty and the complexities of burgeoning sexual desires. Amidst the challenges of poverty, Eugene’s humorous observations and heartfelt reflections capture the essence of growing up in a bustling household, blending joy and struggle in his journey toward adulthood.
