Night Is Not Eternal

Award-winning Chinese-American director Nanfu Wang chronicles the inspiring journey of Rosa María Payá, daughter of renowned activist Oswaldo Payá, who has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize five times. Over seven years, Rosa advocates for democratic reform in Cuba while Wang weaves in her own experiences growing up in China. As Rosa's struggle unfolds, Wang's reflective commentary highlights alarming parallels between the diminishing democratic ideals in the U.S. and the authoritarian regime she escaped, creating a powerful exploration of hope and resilience amidst political turmoil.
