Celebrating Philip Roth’s 80th birthday, this documentary explores the life and legacy of one of America's most influential novelists. His breakthrough came with the 1959 short story collection, Goodbye, Columbus, followed a decade later by the provocative Portnoy's Complaint, which sparked debates on Judaism, sexuality, and familial dynamics. Through revealing interviews, Roth reflects on his Newark upbringing, literary inspirations like Saul Bellow, and the complexities of his alter-ego, Nathan Zuckerman. Esteemed figures such as Nathan Englander, Mia Farrow, and Jonathan Franzen offer insights into Roth’s audacious storytelling and the personal truths he bravely revealed.
