Susanne, a young single mother, embraces a carefree existence but faces financial difficulties after leaving her job. In a desperate attempt to regain stability, she considers a small act of insurance fraud. The film offers a unique glimpse into everyday socialism through a female lens, yet its candid depiction of an imperfect socialist citizen drew the ire of East German authorities. Consequently, officials rejected all opportunities for international screenings, limiting the film’s broader exposure.
