Set in the picturesque Old Port of Marseilles, "Marius" centers on the life of a young man torn between his dreams and love. Marius, eager to escape his father's bar and explore distant lands, has long harbored feelings for Fanny, a charming seafood vendor who secretly loves him back. When a sailor offers Marius a job aboard a ship, Fanny, desperate to keep him close, confesses her feelings, igniting jealousy and conflict with Panisse, an older suitor. As wedding plans unfold, Marius faces a heart-wrenching decision: pursue his adventurous dreams or embrace a life of love with Fanny.
